Lagos (WorldStage Newsonline)-- Two Nigerian teams, First Deep Water, the local champion, and First Bank of Nigeria Basketball Club, will lock horns today in the ongoing 17th edition of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) Africa Women Basket Ball Championship taking place at the indoor sport hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
In the match played yesterday, current champions Interclube Basket Ball Club of Angola defeated First Deep Water Club by 82-75 points, while First Bank of Nigeria Basketball Club, the Elephant Girls, trounced GD Maculosso of Angola by 72-55 points.
First Deep Water which lead in the second half by 49-42 points was a bit relaxed in their defense which gave Interclube the chance to shot from outside, and got the three points with which they sealed the victory.
Lateef Erinfolami, coach of First Deep Water said that his players lost concentration in the third quarter and made a lot of mistakes.
Reacting to his team defeat of GD Maculosso of Angola, Aderemi Adewunmi, First Bank's Coach said it was a tough game in the second half, and because he understood what the Angolans were doing, he changed the tactic of his players.
