Verification of Military pensioners holds 27th Nov – 9th Dec

WorldStage Newsonline-- The Military Pension Board has said that it will commence the military pension verification exercise in the 36 state of the federation from 27thNovember to 9th December, 2017.

The acting Chairman, Military Pension Board, Brigadier-General Adekunle Adigun Adesope disclosed this in Abuja while briefing news men on the verification exercise explained that the exercise was supposed to be an annual exercise but was conducted last in 2015.

He said, the exercise is for pensioners who are currently on the Military Pension Board (MPB) payroll as at October, 2017.

At the briefing organized by the ministry of Defence in conjunction with the Military Pension Board, Brigadier-General Adesope said it was aimed at enlightening Pensioners and the general public on the modalities, timelines, venues and general expectations from the retirees during the exercise.

He explained that the Federal Government of Nigeria recognized the sacrifices of the Military Pensioners as reflected in timely releases of monthly pensions and the data base that will be collected during the exercise.

He said, “For the conveniences of our esteemed Pensioners, specific dates have been allotted to the various rank groups. This is a deliberate plan to have manageable crowd throughout the period and thus ensure a hutch and stress free verification exercise. The conduct of the verification exercise will involve finger print capturing and matching with the biometric details currently in the MPB payroll data base.”

Brigadier General Adekunle while acknowledging the various roles of all the stakeholders in Military Pension Administration and soliciting for their support to achieve the desire success during the exercise, he also appeal to all state legion Chairmen and leaders of other veteran association to continue furnish the board with the list of deceased pensioners in their various states.

The acting Chairman also called on the Military Pensioners to come along with their relevant document during the verification exercise. The Honourable Minister of Defence is expected to flag-off the Military Pensioners verification exercise scheduled for 27th November, 2017 at the Mogadishu cantonment Asokoro Abuja by 10 am.
