WorldStage Newsonline-- Shell Petroleum Development Company on Friday confirmed that a pump failure reported at its Nembe Creek 3 flowstation on August 15 had been repaired and it’s back on normal operation.

Precious Okolobo, SPDC spokesman said in a statement that the pump was immediately shut down after the failure, however, “some oil escaped from the seal into the saver pit in the flowstation, with some sheen observed within the right-of-way.”

With the pump repaired, he said “there was no oil spill, and there was no impact on the environment.”

On official of the Ewelesuo community of the Nembe Kingdom was reported to have raised an alarm that they saw a crude oil slick and sheen along the creek down into the Brass River and that Shell was yet to do any containment.
