Dangote plans allied companies to reduce rural unemployment

WorldStage Newsonline-- To reduce unemployment especially in the rural communities, President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has assured of his desire to invest more in manufacturing concerns that complement his existing companies, so that the teeming unemployed youths would be gainfully engaged.

According to a statement, the business mogul disclosed that plans were afoot to establish another agro- sacks manufacturing company at Ibese, Ogun state to complement Dangote Cement plant in the community with the production of sacks, adding that others concerns like tomato paste company as well as Palm Oil refinery are in the offing.

Alhaji Dangote who was represented by the Group General Manager Project of Dangote Group, Mr. Joseph Alaba, at a meeting with Ibese host Community members of the Yewa North Local Government Council of Baales which held at Cement Plant assured that eligible indigenes of the host communities would be given attention for employment.

According to him, the construction of the lines three and four of the Ibese plant which will take the annual production to from the present 6 million to 12 million has started in earnest. He  then urged the Community leaders to give maximum cooperation to the firm just as it has done in the past. 

He explained that he was of the firm believe that production is what could lift the nation’s economy from the woods and not importation pointing out that employment could only be generated through manufacturing and that all hands must be on deck to create jobs through manufacturing.

The Group President thanked his host communities for the tremendous support the Dangote Cement has gotten from them saying he was happy that the communities understood that it was only in the atmosphere of peace and tranquility that any meaningful development could take place.

Said he; “We have been enjoying peaceful, harmonious and conducive working environment since the time we started the construction works at Ibese here up till now that production has started. We appreciate the the efforts of our Baales and we pray for lasting cordial and mutually beneficial relationship.”

For this reason, Alhaji Dangote the Dangote Cement has been motivated to invest heavily in the execution of some Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects which his companies are known for in all their areas of operation.

He said to the delight of the Community leaders that the contract for the construction of a 25km cement concrete road from the Ibese plant to Itori has been awarded while the ever busy Ibese and Ilaro road is being redesigned for rehabilitation.

The Dangote Group President disclosed further that the Cement Company has plans for provisions of housing estate, rehabilitation of health centers and schools in the host communities as well as provision of other facilities.

Alhaji Dangote assured the Chiefs that by the time the lines 3 and 4 are completed, the entire host communities would undergo complete transformation as the level of commercial activities would go up with banks and other service providers jostling to have presence in the area.

In his remark, leaders of the Baales, Chief S. Akinlotan, thanked Alhaji Dangote for his entrepreneurial spirit which has seen him standing out as a foremost local investor and who has been in the fore front of employment creation.

He stated that his council was out to collaborate with the Dangote Group in any area that it could pointing out that the presence of Dangote Cement is to benefit of the indigenes host communities hence the need to ensure the provision of the right atmosphere for the businesses to thrive.

Chief Akinlotan said promised that the Community leaders would use their position to orient the youths on the need to embrace peace which is a pre-condition for development.

He said; “We have preached peace and urged our people to cooperate and support Dangote companies since the establishment of the firm on our soil would also benefit us.”

The leaders of the Council then appealed to the management of Dangote Cement to do more by employing their youths most of whom he said are roaming the streets aimlessly.
