Kaduna to hosts Verdant Zeal’s 1st Innovention Round Table

WorldStage Newsonline-- Kaduna is set to play host to over 1000 participants in the 1st Innovention Round Table organized by The Verdant Zeal in partnership with Kaduna State Government and PAN Nigeria.

Executive Vice Chairman, Verdant Zeal Group and event convener, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi told journalists on Wednesday that the event, an annual one introduced in 2012, would have as its theme: 'How Innovation Drives Entrepreneurship, The Case for SMEs and Start-Ups.'

Olugbodi said the event had expanded in scope and subject matter to hold the 1st Innovention Round Table for no fewer than 1,000 SMEs and Start up Entrepreneurs, noting that it would have  a renewed vision to impact key economic hubs across .

He added that the Innovention Round Table would create a free platform for all employers of labour, e-commerce solopreneurs and SMEs to appreciate the place of innovation in business growth.

He said the organization had convened the Innovention Series, a corporate social responsibility initiative instituted in 2012 to examine the development of Africa, discuss the Nigerian project as well as pinpoint opportunities for development and growth within the continent.

He said patrons from both the public and private sectors have found it a strong route to engage in stimulating but pragmatic conversations and discourse that challenge the status quo.

The Innovention Series he added, "Has now expanded its offerings for a richer and more diverse audience who want to practically evaluate issues experienced by key economic hub in Nigeria and come up with lasting workable solutions."

Olugbodi identified the six pillars and objectives of the Innovention series to include, promote  strategic, economic and political partnership; front line conventions about original thinking and ideas; deepen the entrepreneurial and business ecosystems; inspire technology and inventions; help build the new African narrative as well as bridge the gap between intent(aspiration) and performance(actualization).

Among the discussants at the event, he said include,  Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola; Founder/CEO, Zamani Foundation, Philomena Zamani-Henry, Chairperson WIMBIZ, Aisha Ahmad and Kabir Farida Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer, Online Training and Awareness Campaign (OTRAC).

The Managing Director, Pan Nigeria, Ibrahim Boyi, noted that the auto assembly plant had over the years been in the vanguard of impacting entrepreneurial skills on Nigerians.

Boyi said as corporate entity, it had over the years, no fewer than 600 people have benefited from its empowering program.

According to him, Pan as an institution also pride itself in the build-up to actualize the dreams, training programs created to empower youth to become entrepreneurs and skilled professionals in the industry.

"Over 600 people have benefited from its programs, some of these programs have been done in collaboration with the Industrial Training Funds and other training agencies," he said.

He also stressed the need for Nigerians to buy Nigeria goods for the economic growth of the country.

He said, "in order to continue the development of the industry it only makes sense that we buy Nigeria to grow Nigeria. It is against this backdrop that we have partnered with the Kaduna State Government and Verdant Zeal Group Nigeria to bring innovation Round Table which is committed to impact  Kaduna State, a key economic hub in Northern Nigeria."

He commended the state government for the unending support to indigenes, residents and institutions with entrepreneurial drive and had proven that the state could achieve greater in opening up for business.
