WAEC releases 2017 results with 59.22% five credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics

WorldStage Newsonline-- The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has released the results of the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with 923,486 candidates out of 1,559,162 who sat for the examination (59.22%) obtained minimum of five credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

WAEC in tweets on its Twitter handle @waecnigeria said 1,084,214 candidates, representing 69.54% obtained credits and above in six subjects; 1,243,772 candidates, representing 79.77% obtained credits and above in five subjects while 1,357,193 candidates, representing 87.05% obtained credits and above in four subjects.

It said that 214,952 candidates have their results being withheld in connection with various reported cases of exam malpractice, saying, the cases were being investigated and reports of the will be presented to the NEC in due course for consideration.

It assured the concerned candidates that they would be informed of the committee’s decisions.

Other statistics showed that of the total number of candidates that sat for the examination, 829,853 were male while 729,309 were female representing 53.2% and 46.2% respectively.
